The Marion Art Center announces auditions for their production of Ripcord, written by David Lindsay-Abaire and directed by John Heavey. Auditions will be held on January 4 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and again Sunday January 5 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Show dates are March 7 through March 23, 2025, with Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 pm, and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm.
Synopsis – A sunny room on an upper floor is prime real estate in the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility, so when the cantankerous Abby is forced to share her quarters with new-arrival Marilyn, she has no choice but to get rid of the infuriatingly chipper woman by any means necessary. A seemingly harmless bet between the old women quickly escalates into a dangerous game of one-upmanship that reveals not just the tenacity of these worthy opponents, but also deeper truths that each would rather remain hidden.
Director John Heavey will be casting three women and three men, as follows: Abby Binder (lead, 60’s-70’s), Marilyn Dunne (lead, 60’s-70’s), Scotty (supporting, 20-30’s), Colleen (supporting, 30’s-40’s), Derek (supporting, 30’s-40’s), and Benjamin (supporting, 30’s-40’s). The audition will consist of readings from various scenes from the script with others auditioning. A full cast description and more details can be found online at marionartcenter.org/auditions.
