Opportunity to Give Back after the Holidays

The holidays are a wonderful time of giving and receiving, and many do take the time to help individuals and families in need. Mattaposiett resident, Jillian Zucco, is encouraging community members to make community-service something they do periodically throughout the year.

On Friday, December 29, Jillian will be holding a Make A Difference Expo at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Route 6 in Mattapoisett from 1:00 – 6:00 pm. Nonprofit organizations and volunteer groups in need of volunteers will be set up to share information on what their needs are and how individuals of all ages can get involved.

Boston Children’s Hospital Blood Mobile will be set up in the parking lot for individuals interested and willing to help restock their critically low blood supply. To make an appointment to donate, log onto halfpints.childrenshospital.org and use sponsor code KNIGHTSM.

In addition to the exhibits, there will be entertainment and refreshments, as well as helping activities for children to do.

Jillian is asking each individual or family who attends to bring a NEW baby/children’s hygiene product (toothbrush, toothpaste, baby wipes, baby body wash, etc.) to help restock empty shelves at Gifts to Give in Acushnet OR canned goods/nonperishables to restock local food banks after the holidays.

Jillian is a lifelong volunteer and the current Miss Massachusetts of the Miss America Organization whose platform is entitled “Choose A Cause, Make A Difference.”
