On September 26, the Town of Rochester and ABC Disposal will sponsor a Household Hazardous Waste Day. The event will take place at the Highway Department Facility, 200 Ryder Road, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Both Rochester and Mattapoisett residents with proof of residency will be allowed to drop off materials.
Materials accepted include the following: paints (oil-based); stains, thinners and strippers; solvents and varnishes; adhesives, glues and resins; waste fuels (kerosene and gasoline); engine degreaser and brake fluid; transmission fluid; poisons, insecticides, weed killers; wood preservatives; hobby and artist supplies; photo chemicals and chemistry sets; cleaner and spot removers; swimming pool chemicals; aerosol cans; pesticides; used motor oil; and mercury products.
This is an exclusive list. No materials not listed above will be accepted. This includes explosives, gas cylinders, and commercial or industrial waste. A flyer fully detailing accepted and non-accepted materials will be sent to all town addresses.
