Deborah A. (Oliveira) Rebello, 59, of Mattapoisett died March 28, 2014 unexpectedly at St. Luke’s Hospital.
She was the wife of Michael W. Rebello.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Beatrice (Marshall) Ferreira of Dartmouth and step-daughter of the late Barry Ferreira, she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth before moving to Mattapoisett 20 years ago.
Mrs. Rebello was employed as a correctional officer with the Bristol County Sheriffs Department for 23 years and was one of the first female correctional officers in Bristol County to work behind the wall.
She enjoyed cooking and was an advocate for animals.
Survivors include her husband; her mother; 3 aunts, Irene Marshall, Alice Furtado and Kathleen Weber, all of New Bedford; 3 step-daughters, Kelli Crooks and her husband Rhett of Fairhaven, Kristi Rebello and her companion Manuel Machado and Amique Dionne, all of New Bedford; a step-son, Shaun Rebello of San Francisco; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was the niece of the late Frances Marshall.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
