Mock Trial in Marion966 views“Anne Hutchinson” (Christina Hai) is sworn in by real-life Attorney Laura O’Rourke during Sippican School’s recent mock trial, The Massachusetts Bay Colony vs. Anne Hutchinson. The Marion students learned about the trial from 1637 where Ms. Hutchinson was banished from the colony for allegedly being “a woman not fit for society” because of her religious beliefs.

Shellfishing in Season966 viewsHorace Field, Mattapoisett’s Assistant Harbormaster and Deputy Shellfish Warden, and his lab Bonnie enjoy an afternoon of quahogging along a Mattapoisett beach. As of October 15 you can also harvest scallops (through April 1). Quahogging can be done anytime with a shellfishing permit from the Mattapoisett Town Hall.
