Bristol County Radio Control Club 70 viewsMembers of the Bristol County Radio Control Club gathered on August 20 at Mary's Pond in Rochester for the annual fun fly of radio-controlled pontoon airplanes. Nationally, there are several thousand recognized clubs engaged in the activity, said Ned Watts, an avid pilot of the Styrofoam craft. Rick Plunkett is also pictured with Rochester Police Officer Austin Alves, who was Ryan Plunkett’s catcher when the two played together on the A’s of the ORYB Major League. Alves recalled a home run Ryan Plunkett hit over the left-field wall that got caught up in the top of the batting cage at Gifford Park.

In the department’s 10th year walking, the participants raised $8,500, the largest amount raised to date as they symbolized the extra weight of living with Multiple Sclerosis. In 2014, Deputy Fire Chief and Highway Surveyor Jeff Eldridge was diagnosed with MS after experiencing the pain of trigeminal neuralgia, a condition he continues to battle while serving the Town
