Rick Plunkett is also pictured with Rochester Police Officer Austin Alves, who was Ryan Plunkett’s catcher when the two played together on the A’s of the ORYB Major League. Alves recalled a home run Ryan Plunkett hit over the left-field wall that got caught up in the top of the batting cage at Gifford Park.

Shining Tides Multiuse Pathway71 viewsThe official opening of the Shining Tides multiuse pathway took place on June 12 with approximately 75 people gathered to applaud the 20-year effort. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation hosted the ribbon-cutting event where the elevated bridge span crosses the Mattapoisett River and Eel Pond marshlands. Representative William Straus noted the hard work of both local volunteers and government members, as well as the support and work done by those associated with Secretary of Transportation

Rochester Fire Department71 viewsMembers of the Rochester Fire Department participated in full gear for Saturday’s, 3-mile Team Hero's Walk held at Fort Taber in New Bedford. In the department’s 10th year walking, the participants raised $8,500, the largest amount raised to date as they symbolized the extra weight of living with Multiple Sclerosis. In 2014, Deputy Fire Chief and Highway Surveyor Jeff Eldridge was diagnosed with MS after experiencing the pain of trigeminal neuralgia, a condition he continues to battle while serving the Town

Rochester Rodeo70 viewsThe second of the bi-weekly rodeo was held at the Rochester Fair Grounds this past Saturday by New England Rodeo. Present were over 20 professional bull riders from New England, Latin America, and Brazil. There were also professional barrel riders and mounted shooters. There were some young cowboys and cowgirls who also gave it their best to stay on a bucking pony.
