Dr. Thorson spoke about the practical, as well as emotional, reasons why New Englanders love their stone walls. Just looking at a stone wall in its natural landscape can provide an insight into the history of Earth's formation. Stone walls are aesthetically beautiful, give us hints about our past, and provide important habitat functions for both plants and animals.

Tour de Crème203 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust in tandem with the Mattapoisett Bike Path Committee held its first Tour de Crème on Sunday, May 22. The fundraiser brought groups on three different courses – 13-, 25-, and 48-miles long – winding their way through area towns and making stops at various local ice cream parlors. Dollars raised pay for Music Festival fees and transportation, equipment purchase, repair and replacement, reed purchase and scholarship funds.
