New Year Plunge211 viewsOn January 1, 2013, Mattapoisett Town Beach played host to a New Year’s polar plunge fundraiser. The event, which attracted over 400 people, raised money to benefit BAM Foundation, Inc., a New Bedford non-profit which donates money to South Coast families dealing with members who have cancer. Pinewood Derby211 viewsOn Saturday, March 2nd 2013, The Cubs Scout Pack 32 held a pinewood derby at the Community Hall of the Congregational Church in Marion. The results were 1st Lucas Marcolini, 2nd Brendan Hubbard, 3rd Nathaniel Bangs, and 4th Nate Robertson. All four move on to regional finals in New Bedford later this month. Amy Hartley-Matteson of Mattapoisett and Katherine Hartley of Rochester (2:11:14) won the women’s division for the third consecutive time – the second time they’ve three-peated.
