Marion Natural History Museum218 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's after-school group enjoyed working on crafts made from natural and recycled materials last Wednesday. This was the last after-school program for 2015, and the students had a chance to have some fun decorating as well as enjoying snacks and slides of the past year's programs. Special Olympics Young Athletes218 viewsRoughly 120 Tabor Academy students volunteered on January 10 to assist with the school’s first session of the Special Olympics Young Athletes™ program held at Tabor. The program offers children ages 3-7 with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to engage in physical activities vital to mental and physical growth. Spearheaded by Math teacher Tim Cleary and Tabor senior Molly Bent, sessions continue January 17 to March 6 (no session February 7) at 2:00 pm at the Fish Center for Athletics

Dry Harvest218 viewsIt’s cranberry season in Southeastern Massachusetts. With drought conditions, dry harvesting the berries has started largely unaffected by the lack of water thus far, but bog flooding later in the season could be affected if water sources are not replenished with rain. Paula and Dana Johnson of Rochester are in the midst of their dry pick, circling the bogs, one after the other, day in and day out with their mechanical Furfords and burlap sacks to harvest the cranberries fit for fresh fruit sale.
