Rochester turned 340 346 viewsHey, hey, it’s your birthday, Rochester! Rochester turned 340 years old on June 4, and the third grade class from RMS was invited to celebrate with some cake and ice cream at the senior center on Tuesday. Students started the day with a tour around historic Rochester before breaking for lunch and sharing a large birthday cake with seniors. Students also received a free “Rochester 340” t-shirt, courtesy of a grant that funded the students’ birthday gifts. Photos by Jean Perry

Grandparent's Day345 viewsIt was a perfect autumn day for the SouthCoast Senior Resource Alliance Grandparents Day at Hiller Farm in Rochester on September 19. Children and their grandparents had fun playing bean-bag toss, bocce, posing with the Three Stooges, and more. The face-painting and petting zoo areas were a complete hit! Ladder 49345 viewsThis month, the Rochester Fire Department received a piece of steel from the World Trade Center to be displayed at the Rochester Firefighter's Memorial. It was brought into town on Rochester's Ladder 1, formerly "Ladder 49" of FDNY. Robert Hiller Homecoming345 viewsRobert Hiller III finally returned on March 3 to his Eastover Farms-area home to a grand welcome of family and friends after a bout with the EEE virus that put the Rochester resident in a coma for 19 days and held him in hospital care for seven months. The signed photo of the Fab Four appeared to be the real thing, but antiques and collectibles expert Frank McNamee said that the signatures were just a facsimile and were usually sent out to fans who wrote to the band.
