Miles for Memorial Annual Fitness Challenge182 viewsSmiling faces beneath sunny skies, Rochester Memorial School was the setting May 30 for a day of outdoor fun and fitness during the Miles for Memorial Annual Fitness Challenge. With soccer, Frisbee, hula-hoops, and dance parties, kids were in constant motion everywhere you looked and one could hear music, laughter, and cheering from every corner of RMS’s green grassy grounds. Rochester Country Fair 2014182 viewsWhat do you get when you combine the smell of Italian sausage mixed with diesel exhaust and cow manure, the sound of loud tractor engines drowning out the live country music with the occasional barn animal noise, and the sight of happy Southcoast folks in overalls? The sublime sensory experience that is the Rochester Country Fair! What is more fun than four fun-filled days of frog racing, tractor pulling, mechanic bull riding, and fried food eating? Don’t forget the cowchip bingo and John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band who rocked the house on Saturday night before hundreds of spectators. Photos by Jean Perry, Camden Gaspar, and Felix Perez

Rochester Movie Set182 viewsOnce The Wanderer first reported the presence of a Hollywood film crew in Rochester on April 2 word quickly spread, and so did the rumors that stars of the film production “Joy” were in town for the day. There were no star sightings, however Rochester resident Hilary Wood was able to get some photos of the action from her front yard, after the surprise of an Amish-driven horse and carriage caught her eye as it passed her window on Hartley Road.
