Tree Lighting 2014253 viewsSanta Claus arrived like a celebrity on December 8 at the annual Rochester Tree Lighting at Town Hall. Hundreds turned out to greet Santa, listen to the RMS chorus and band play Christmas carols, and watch as the flick of a switch lit up the tree, symbolizing the official start of Christmas in Rochester. RMS Basketball253 viewsIt was a pretty close game, 67-59, at Rochester Memorial School on January 23. It was the annual sixth grade vs. staff basketball game, and this year it was attended by a record crowd. $370 was raised for the Nurse Thayer Scholarship Fund. “It was a great event,” said RMS Principal Derek Medeiros. “It’s all about the engagement, and seeing all those people there was great.” Photos by Jean Perry

Rochester Movie Set253 viewsOnce The Wanderer first reported the presence of a Hollywood film crew in Rochester on April 2 word quickly spread, and so did the rumors that stars of the film production “Joy” were in town for the day. There were no star sightings, however Rochester resident Hilary Wood was able to get some photos of the action from her front yard, after the surprise of an Amish-driven horse and carriage caught her eye as it passed her window on Hartley Road.
