Leaving Portland, Oregon on May 2, the two childhood friends arrived at Buteyne’s parents’ driveway about a month earlier than anticipated, greeted by family, friends, confetti, cookies, and of course, hugs. Balloons and festive tables, a three course meal catered by New Bedford’s Riccardi’s, music by the Relics (courtesy of the Rochester Cultural Council) certificates of appreciation and 175 gifts (one for each volunteer) were all part of the celebration.
