Saint Gabriel’s Episcopal Parish 70 viewsOn Sunday, November 17th parishioners at Saint Gabriel’s Episcopal Parish in Marion created over two hundred apple pies at its annual “Great Pie Challenge”. This annual intergenerational event was brought to Marion by Wendy Reardon who is St. Gabriel’s Director of Youth and Family Formation. About 150 pies will be donated to local organizations who will give them away to people in need. The rest of the pies will be sold as a fundraiser which will help raise money for the 2025 Youth Mission Trip heading to N

Marion Natural History Museum70 viewsMany thanks to soil scientist Maggie Payne for her fun and fascinating program about composting with worms. We had a close up look at Red Wiggler worms and they definitely lived up to their name by jumping about during the program. We had a chance to inspect them using magnifying glasses and microscopes trying to determine which end was which. We then created a habitat for them with shredded paper and leftover vegetables. Each student had a chance to bring their worm farm home.

Old Rochester junior Emerson Roy of Fairhaven sang “God Bless America,” ORR eighth-grader Sophie Zhou of Marion read The Gettysburg Address, and joining the march were the Sippican School Marching Band and Portuguese American Band, and the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Marion, who led the Pledge of Allegiance. Marion Natural History Museum69 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum wishes to thank Justin Barrett for the fun time we had last week learning about the importance of the Great Backyard Bird Count. The students were able to identify the many species including Starling (small flock), Mourning Dove, Juncos (good views), Cardinal, House Finch, House Sparrow, and American Crow. And they also found an old nest in a tree. After-school programs included "Monarchs" on March 2, and upcoming is "Fossil Hunting" on March 16. Check out our full list of
