Marion Natural History Museum255 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum welcomed a visit from Mark Whelan, engineer with Sippican/Lockheed Martin Corp. Mark allowed us to experiment with compression, stability and buoyancy. We built our own submarines and figured out how to make it sink, but not too fast. Then we held a race to see whose submarine sank the slowest. The group had a great time working with all the materials and we’d like to thank Mark and Sippican/Lockheed Martin for the wonderful program.

Kids Equipment Fun Day255 viewsSaturday, May 7, was the date for the annual Kids Equipment Fun Day at Washburn Park in Marion, sponsored by Marion Recreation. The kids climbed aboard ambulances, fire trucks, police cruisers, and even the harbormaster’s boat. This year, Recreation Director and Selectman Jody Dickerson served up free hotdogs during the popular event that seemed to draw a bigger crowd this year than the previous years. Photos by Ethan Akins

Marion Town Party 255 viewsThe town collected hundreds of wood pallets and stacked them sky high in the ball field beside the Town House in anticipation of the annual Marion Town Party on Saturday, August 27. The theme of this year’s party, “Out of This World,” was appropriately represented in the playful banner hung on the stack of firewood and eventually burned along with it in an enormous bonfire. Cushing VFW Post 2425, which in return gave a moving farewell as it disbanded this year and donated the VFW building to the town.
