Working the Mattapoisett Harbormaster boat piloted by P.J. Beaudoin were Assistant Harbormaster Robert Clavin and intern Robert Haskell, and on the Mattapoisett Fire Department boat were Firefighter Daniel Cortes and Lieutenant Ross Macedo. Fire Department Open House58 viewsOn October 10 and 11, Marion and Mattapoisett Fire Departments held open houses featuring plenty of fun for children of all ages. The occasion was the National Fire Prevention Week.
Since 1922, the National Fire Protection Association has been helping local fire departments with educational materials related to fire safety.

Mattapoisett Boatyard Fire57 viewsSmoke rose over Mattapoisett Harbor on August 19 after a boat caught fire during the replacement of a gasoline tank. An explosion followed by a raging fire leveled Mattapoisett Boatyard and destroyed the 14 boats and 47 vehicles on site. Members of the Kaiser family who own the business and members of the McLean family who founded the business surveyed the ruins on the weekend and vow to rebuild.
