Alpacapalooza! 236 viewsPine Meadows Farm in Mattapoisett is home to some 17 alpacas. Owners Heidi and Jeff Paine opened up the farm to the public over the weekend once the weather cleared. Saturday the alpacas were still drying off from the rain, but by Sunday their fleece was again fluffy and soft. Photos by Jean Perry

The Old Hammondtown School concert band under the direction of Cara Kinney played patriotic tunes to a full house, and afterwards the Memorial Day parade headed to the Civil War monument at the library. 48th Annual Mattapoisett Road Race 236 viewsThe 48th Annual Mattapoisett Road Race once again brought out young and old alike. Overcast skies were welcomed but the July 4th heat was tough for the runners and the cheering crowds who begged for shade. The field of runners was well over 1,000 and coming in first was Joe Farrand at 26:59. Shortly after, the first female to finish was Kim Bolick at 29:54.
