Eagle Scout Project250 viewsAdam Perkins of Mattapoisett has completed his Eagle Scout project, kayak racks for Shipyard Park. From September 2014 through April 2015 he managed all aspects of the project from securing funding, acquiring materials, to building the racks. On May 5 the racks where transported from his home on Abbey Lane to Shipyard Park by the Highway Department. On hand to receive the gift on behalf of the town was Harbormaster Jill Simmons.

Brad Barrows Ride250 viewsThe annual Brad Barrows Ride took place on Saturday, September 19, with around 60 to 70 participants riding on roughly 40 motorcycles. The fundraiser proceeds go to fund local youth sports, a cause that was dear to the late Barrows’ heart. Barrows was the owner of the bad “Brad’s” in Mattapoisett until his death in 2007. Monarch Moment250 viewsElla Gillen, 10, and Sofia Gillen, 8, watched a chrysalis that originated from their backyard hatch on Tuesday at the Mattapoisett Library. It was serendipity that the two girls were there with their mother, Tracy, to catch the chrysalis beginning to break open to release a fully developed Monarch butterfly into the world. Tour de Crème250 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust in tandem with the Mattapoisett Bike Path Committee held its first Tour de Crème on Sunday, May 22. The fundraiser brought groups on three different courses – 13-, 25-, and 48-miles long – winding their way through area towns and making stops at various local ice cream parlors. Although rain was in the forecast all week, the over 150 participants lucked out with only partly cloudy skies. Photos by Colin Veitch
