Lions Club Triathlon255 viewsUnder merciful overcast skies on July 15, the 37th annual Lions Club Triathlon found 115 participants including seven relay teams vying for first place bragging rights. Coming in 1st place in the men’s division was Brian Hughes with a time of 51:38 minutes. The storm brought strong wind and cold rain to the area, especially at the turn around Ned’s Point Lighthouse, dampening the day but not the sentiment behind the Women’s Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts’ largest annual fundraising event. Annual Turkey Dinner254 viewsLast Saturday over one hundred seniors enjoyed the annual turkey dinner with all the trimmings sponsored by the Mattapoisett Lions Club. Several of our volunteers also delivered meals to those seniors that could not attend. Music and laughter filled Raynard Hall at the Congregational Church. The event was chaired by Lions Joe and Janet Rego and the Boy Scouts did outstanding work serving the seniors and helping with clean up.
