Annual Turkey Dinner198 viewsLast Saturday over one hundred seniors enjoyed the annual turkey dinner with all the trimmings sponsored by the Mattapoisett Lions Club. Several of our volunteers also delivered meals to those seniors that could not attend. Music and laughter filled Raynard Hall at the Congregational Church. The event was chaired by Lions Joe and Janet Rego and the Boy Scouts did outstanding work serving the seniors and helping with clean up.

Cinco de Mayo198 viewsAfter hosting a successful fundraiser, a “Cinco de Mayo” luncheon, at Mattapoisett Congregational Church, the church Missions Committee presented a $750 check to the American Legion on Depot Street on Wednesday, May 15. The $750 will help the Legion pay for the installation of a new furnace thus saving on heating costs and enabling the Legion to continue renting the popular building to local groups. Freezin' for a Reason 2014198 viewsParticipants in the 2014 Polar Plunge on January 1 were encouraged to wear costumes for the event, which raised thousands of dollars for the BAM Foundation. BAM is an organization that offers financial assistance to families battling cancer to help offset the unexpected costs of cancer treatment. Hundreds of people turned out for the event, with over a hundred participants who plunged into 34 degree waters, just a few degrees warmer than the 28 degree air temperature that morning.
