The Mattapoisett Library hosted a Blackout Poetry Lab on Saturday, April 21, and provided all the materials for any blackout poet to explore the art form. Family Fun Festival 292 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home. Christmas Day Plunge292 viewsAt 94, Bob Humphrey was the elder statesman participating in the Christmas Day plunge held at Mattapoisett Town Beach, which including 47 swimmers and raised $2,595 in donations for the benefit of Helping Hands & Hooves. Mattapoisett Tree Lighting291 viewsMattapoisett lit one of the biggest trees Shipyard Park has ever seen at the 2011 Holiday in the Park. There was food from local establishments, ornament making, merry music and Santa! The moment was enough to spur two romantic marriage proposals.
