There was food from local establishments, ornament making, merry music and Santa! The moment was enough to spur two romantic marriage proposals. About 25 people gathered at the Museum and Carriage House at 5 Church Street and then meandered throughout the village to spread Holiday cheer. New Year Plunge304 viewsOn January 1, 2013, Mattapoisett Town Beach played host to a New Year’s polar plunge fundraiser. The event, which attracted over 400 people, raised money to benefit BAM Foundation, Inc., a New Bedford non-profit which donates money to South Coast families dealing with members who have cancer. Hampered by the snow and ice they chased the fire through the walls and roof of the house and were eventually able to gain control.
