Mattapoisett Firefighters Association Chowder Competition314 viewsThe 2nd Annual Mattapoisett Firefighters Association Chowder Competition was well attended this Sunday, September 18, behind the Knights of Columbus on Route 6. Two categories – professional establishment and public safety – competed for best judged chowder and people’s choice. Mattapoisett Women's Club314 viewsThe Garden Group of the Mattapoisett Women's Club and friends toured the gardens of the Eleanor Cabot Estate on Wednesday, October 5. The estate, located in Canton, is a property of The Trustees of Reservations and open to the public. The ladies had a guided tour of the grounds and then enjoyed a bag lunch on the loggia.

Hammond Quarry314 viewsMattapoisett Land Trust President Mike Huguenin led a group of about 52 people on a walk about Hammond Quarry, a historical property off Mattapoisett Neck Road that the MLT is hoping to acquire next year. Pink granite was mined from the site between the early 1700s through the early 1900s, and the MLT plans to purchase the property to preserve the quarries and carve out trails for public access. Family Fun Festival 314 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home.
