Mattapoisett YMCA341 viewsOn Sunday, October 20, the Mattapoisett YMCA hosted its first annual Harbor Brew Fest. Participants enjoyed this sunny day of local brew tastings, live music by Sean Carney, and fresh scallops, while overlooking beautiful Mattapoisett Harbor. A bonfire on the beach accompanied by a smores bar added to the fun. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Mattapoisett YMCA’s Annual Campaign that helps deserving children attend summer camp, preschool and afterschool care.

Memorial Day340 viewsThe Florence Eastman Post 220 in Mattapoisett hosted the town’s Memorial Day observance and parade on May 31, 2010. The ceremony began with a service at the Veteran’s monument in front of the library, and then a parade assembled and marched to the town wharf and to Cushing Cemetery. Mattapoisett Tree Committee 340 viewsOn March 9, the Mattapoisett Tree Committee announced the winners of the annual 5th-grade Tree City USA Arbor Day Foundation contest, with this year’s poster theme: “Trees Have Mass Appeal”. The first place prize of a $35 gift certificate went to Amanda Tomasso, whose poster now goes on to the statewide competition. The $25 second place prize went to Sasha Volkema.
