Christmas Day Swim347 viewsOn Tuesday, December 25, many Tri-Town residents braved the chilly temperatures and jump into Mattapoisett Town Beach for the 12th Annual Christmas Day Swim. Build-your-own Snowman347 viewsUnder the direction of Jeanne McCullough, children at the Mattapoisett Free Library on December 30 participated in a step-by-step build-your-own snowperson activity during the winter school break. Little fingers sticky with glue flattened out cotton balls and fastened them to prefabricated Styrofoam snowperson shapes, and then glued on the trimmings under the guidance of caregivers. Great Community Picnic347 viewsThe Great Community Picnic hosted by the Mattapoisett Land Trust and Historical Museum featured great food, music, and lots of creative expression. One table was tricked out in a Jaws theme while another was filled with ladies wearing hats called “fascinators”. The fourth annual fundraiser was a sold out event. Memorial Day346 viewsThe Florence Eastman Post 220 in Mattapoisett hosted the towns Memorial Day observance and parade on May 31, 2010. The ceremony began with a service at the Veterans monument in front of the library, and then a parade assembled and marched to the town wharf and to Cushing Cemetery. Close to 240 people came to enjoy an old-fashioned clambake with the Lions Club, the Mattapoisett Boy Scout Troop 53, Mattapoisett firefighters, and the Firefighters Auxiliary Club all pitching in to help. Christmas Holiday Shop345 viewsSt. Anthonys and St. Ritas parishioners combined efforts to give the community a Christmas Holiday Shop and Celebration on Saturday, December 5, 2009. The basement of St. Anthonys church was decked out in snowflakes, wreaths, bells, bows, and a Santa sleigh. Santa listened patiently as children told him what they wanted for Christmas.
