Santa Arrives364 viewsMattapoisett held its annual holiday celebration and tree lighting on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Shipyard Park. The rain couldn't dampen holiday spirits as visitors enjoyed delicious food and listened to Christmas music performed by the Showstoppers. Memorial Day364 viewsThe Florence Eastman Post 220 in Mattapoisett hosted the town’s Memorial Day observance and parade on May 31, 2010. The ceremony began with a service at the Veteran’s monument in front of the library, and then a parade assembled and marched to the town wharf and to Cushing Cemetery. Dog's Beach364 viewsAmy Hardwick, a Mattapoisett resident, is petitioning to make Goodspeed Island the official dog beach in town. The town has been working to keep the dog waste bag dispenser full, after abutting neighbors have complained about trash and dog waste at Goodspeed.
