Members and supporters of the local anti-racism organization celebrated the realization of the vision of 2020 Keel Award winner Kelsey Robertson, who at age 10 sought to bring books to libraries that reflect the diversity of community children. Volunteers at Sippican Elementary85 viewsVolunteers at Sippican Elementary (VASE) hosted their fourth Boosterthon Fun Run fundraiser last week. VASE works with Booster, a company that helps raise funds for enrichment activities such as in-school performances, field trips and afterschool programs. Students reached out to friends, family and businesses across 30 states and 7 countries; 87 percent of the student body registered with 79 percent earning donations for Sippican.

Summer Reading Program75 viewsAs a kickoff to the summer reading program at the Elizabeth Taber Library and summer Natural History Museum programming, the Town of Marion was treated to a visit from a full-size whale, two very large dinosaurs and one baby dino named Spike. The Summer Block Party event held on June 24 started inside the Music Hall due to weather but later moved outside. The event also featured faux archeology digs and face painting. Ned’s Point Lighthouse70 viewsTuesday afternoon offered a sneak preview of the reopening of Ned’s Point Lighthouse scheduled for Saturday, October 9, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Cathy Hardy and Mike Lally, a Texas couple, happened to be in the right place at the right time to become the first visitors to the 183-year-old lighthouse that had been closed for the past two years and three months.
