Church Donates Books709 viewsThe steering committee of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church recently made a donation of books to first graders of the Hayden-McFadden Elementary School in New Bedford. The members of the church sought to give the gift of a book to each child in a single class at the north-side New Bedford school in an effort to promote the school’s literacy program.

Relay for Life623 viewsThe third annual Relay For Life for the Tri-Town had their Kick-Off Meeting on Tuesday, February 13 at Old Rochester Regional High School in Mattapoisett. At the Kick-Off, Patti O’Hara, MSP Program Coordinator for Covanta/SEMASS in West Wareham (right) presented a sponsorship check for $5,000 to event Co-Chairman Bonnie Davidson (left). This is the first sponsorship secured for the tri-town event.

Girl Scout Support689 viewsMembers of Marion’s Daisy Girl Scout Troop 67 (pictured here with Troop Leader Stacy Soucy) have each adopted a soldier stationed overseas in order to send them a care package each month. Among the items the girls have been sending are basic toiletries, cards, books, puzzles and nonperishable food items. The most recent packages included Valentine’s Day cards and Girl Scout cookies.
