Sowing the Seeds of Peace
A ginkgo biloba sapling from a 250-year-old mother tree that survived the A-bombing of Hiroshima was planted in Rochester last week. The mother tree was 1,500 yards from ground zero and survived the blast. The sapling was donated to the town from past Town Administrator Michael McCue, who acquired it from The United Nations Green Legacy Hiroshima Initiative. It was quietly planted behind the playground at the Dexter Lane Ball Field. Photo by Jean Perry
